An Otsego County Sheriff’s Deputy who was injured in the line of duty is given the 2019 Deputy of the Year award. In May of 2019 Deputy James Mateunas was pursing a suspect in a domestic vioolence incident when the suspect hit Mateunas’ cruiser with so much force that it went 200 feet before coming to rest. The suspect was killed in the collision. Mateunas is still recovering from his injuries.
