Otsego, Chenango and Delaware Counties are sharing in $45 Million of state grants to to improve county emergency communications so they can be more interoperable making it easier to share information during an incident. Bassett Named NY Health Commissioner

The director of Harvard University’s Center for Health and Human Rights is appointed to be New York’s next Health Commissioner. Dr. Mary T. Bassett’s 3-decade career has spanned academia, government, and not-for-profit work resulting in a number of awards and honors. Her appointment is effective December 1. DOT Workers Hurt When Their Truck Was Hit In Andes

A state DOT truck was hit yesterday while on State Route 28 in Andes. Police say the vehicle was stopped so workers could retrieve traffic cones. The truck’s driver and 2 of the workers retrieving the cones suffered minor injuries while the driver which hit the truck was not hurt. NY Releases County Healthcare Worker Vaccination Rates

New York releases figures on healthcare worker vaccination rates. 85% of Otsego County workers are fully vaccinated while Chenango County has a 91% rate and Delaware County’s rate is also 85%. The statewide vaccination rate is 87%. Monday was the deadline for healthcare workers to get at least their first vaccine dose. NY SNAP Benefits To Go Up In October

Those enrolled in the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will receive a benefit increase starting next month of about $36 per person. The additional money comes from a federal cost adjustment aimed at providing low-income individuals and families better access to healthy foods. The increase totals $1.4 billion for New York. NY Takes Action To Address Healthcare Worker Shortages

Governor Kathy Hochul signs an executive order to expand the health care workforce after the Monday deadline for healthcare workers to get at least one COVID-19 vaccine or lose their jobs.
