Siena Poll Finds NYers Like Plastic Bag Ban

Nearly two-thirds of New York voters support the state’s newly passed ban on single-use plastic bags, according to a new poll from Siena College. Voters from both major parties were supportive of the ban, with 67% of Democrats and 56% of Republicans backing it. The ban kicks in next March. Around two-thirds of respondents say they were opposed to Governor Andrew Cuomo’s $21,000 a year pay raise that was part of the budget. There was also opposition to allowing driver licenses issued to undocumented immigrants.
