Stolen Historical Marker In Owego Is Found

A historic marker for World War 2 veteran and former Owego resident Margaret J.Hastings which was stolen from her childhood home has been found.

According to authorities the marker was removed Saturday from its post in front of the home on McMaster Street.

Police say someone turned the marker in Monday but didn’t give any other details.

Last August the state dedicated the plaque to Hastings who survived nearly 50 days in a New Guinea jungle after her plane crashed.
