Cooperstown Clarifies Immigration Stance

Village of Cooperstown lawmakers passed a resolution stating local law enforcement will cooperate with federal immigration operations but will not do the work of immigration policing.

Cooperstown Mayor Jeff Katz tells a Utica TV station the Village adopted the resolution to be in front of a possible issue where local police agencies could be told to act as immigration enforcement agents.

Katz says the resolution does not mean Cooperstown is becoming a so-called sanctuary city.
