More Money For CHIPS

Two area lawmakers are throwing their support behind funding the Consolidated and Local Street and Highway Improvement Program – known as CHIPS.

Assemblyman Pete Lopez from Schohairee and Assemblyman Phil Palmensano both say the state needs to increase CHIPS funding in the 2017 budget by as much as $150 million.

The funding would go toward improving local roads and bridges some of which are severly damaged from previous storms along with a lack of maintenance.
