Trooper Carrying Torch

A New York State Trooper in Richfield Springs has been picked to represent law enforcement for the state in the Special Olympics.

Trooper Neil Case has been selected to carry the torch to honor his son, who has Down syndrome, while raising awareness for people with disabilities.

The Special Olympics will pay the $10,000 it costs to send Case to Austria. But Case said he doesn’t want to take away money from the athletes, so instead he’s set up a fundraiser which has already brought in more than $7,000.
