Great Backyard Bird Count

Sunday’s non-winter like weather was a great help to those out with the Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society for the annual Great Backyard Bird Count.

The count is a nationwide event to get a snapshot of where bird populations are in February.

According to local TV the lists of birds are then sent to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the Audubon Society, which then comes up with a report for the entire country.

The count also helps the society to learn more about the types of birds that stay here for the winter.
