Seward Bill Would Make Baseball Official State Sport

State Senator James Seward announced Wednesday that he has introduced legislation to designate baseball as New York’s official state sport.

Senator Seward’s legislation was crafted after receiving an appeal from Anne Reis'(Reese) fourth grade class at Cooperstown Elementary School.

The measure is now in the hands of the Senate Investigations and Government Operations Committee.

New York officials have previously designated a gemstone, fossil, bush and reptile as officially representing the state.
