Rise Share Bill Passes Senate

A bill sponsored by Senator Jim Seward to legalize rideshare services like Uber and Lyft has cleared the state senate.

The vote was 53-5 in favor of the measure which now goes to the Assembly.

Governor Cuomo has been very vocal about getting ridesharing legalized in areas outside of New York City and a number of business leaders along with other organizations have told state lawmakers they want to see the bill passed.

The measure also calls for the adoption of zero tolerance alcohol and drug policies and non-discrimination standards.
