Arrest in senior robbery case

An Oneonta man suspected of robbing a woman is also facing charges connected with a number of burglaries and passing fake money.

Police say they arrested Joshua J. Johnston on suspicion he robbed a woman in her 60s on Thursday near Grand Street, pushing her to the ground then stealing her purse.

According to investigators once Johnston was arrested they found he was connected with the theft of various items from a number of parked cars – and that in July he passed counterfeit $20 bills at a restaurant.

Bail was set at $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond.
