The future role of Oneonta’s City Manager discussed

Two consultants hired by the Oneonta Common Council to make recommendations on the future of the City Manager made their recommendations at this week’s meeting.

Jerry Faiella, Executive Director of the NYS City/County Managers Association, and Michael Ritchie, Senior Advisor, ICMA told the panel the next City Manager must be an enabler of staff development, an advocate for employees and a mentor.

Ritchie recommended the Council be better educated in implementing a city manager form of government.

The City Manager office has been vacant since last year.
