Driver takes curve too fast, ends up in intensive care

The Delaware County Sheriff’s office is crediting seat belts with protecting two people in a crash on Friday afternoon in the Town of Andes. The 60 year old driver, Douglas Petoske, was going too fast and lost control of his Chevy pickup on a curve on Bussey Hollow Road and overturned. Petoske was treated at the scene before he was air lifted by a LifeNet of New York helicopter and transported to Albany Medical Center where he remained in the intensive care unit with a head injury late Friday afternoon. His passenger, 23-year-old Blaine Bolster of Hancock, sustained a minor injury and refused medical treatment at the scene. Deputies report that the use of seatbelts by both occupants of the vehicle helped protect them from more serious injuries.
