New York has a good system for fighting pain

A recent report card about effective pain management for patients battling chronic diseases shows that New York gets a letter grade of B in measuring the quality and balance of its policies to make pain treatment available. The report was funded by the American Cancer Society and affiliates. While most states improved over the last three years, six states grades were worse. The report said those were well-intentioned policies to rein in opioid abuse that failed to consider unintended consequences.
